The aim of the Current Trends in Information technology (CTIT) Workshop is to stimulate and facilitate active exchange, interaction, and comparison of approaches, methods, ideas, and technologies in the areas listed below. The workshop will provide an optimum environment where participants will have the opportunity to discuss specific technical topics in an atmosphere that fosters the active exchange of ideas. It is expected to include presentations, discussion, and hands-on-sessions in a way that is more interactive and focused than the paper sessions in the main conference program. To foster the interactivity and focus, CTIT workshops target a narrower range of topics and have smaller number of participants (often around 20 or more) compared to the main conference. The target audiences of these workshops are High School Teachers, College and university Professors and IT Professionals.
Topics of interest are divided into two streams: IT and Career Guidance:
Information Technology
E-learning - to stimulate discussions about methods and tools that includes a variety of areas related to e-Learning seeking to combine cutting-edge research with practical and real-life applications, innovative use of new and established learning technologies, and speculative pieces on the future of education in a connected world.
Secure Social Networking - to bring together industry and academic actors to foster discussion, analyze risks, opportunities and privacy challenges of social networking.
Entrepreneurship and Information Technology - to discuss the way we educate our graduates and how important to focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, and information technology in educational curricula as a solution to sustaining progress and improving a country’s economy.
Career Guidance
Discovering Emirati Talent: Lack of awareness on different opportunities within the private sector and stereotyping of UAE nationals in these private companies are the major issues that hamper Emiratisation. This workshop should aim at exploring ways in which increased and effective Emiratisation can be achieved.
CV writing and interview skills: This workshop should be designed to show the students how to construct a winning CV that will single them out from the crowd and get them that all-important interview. Having then been shortlisted, the workshop should address what is the best way to approach the interview? How should one prepare and practice?
